Leading in
Conservation

We will accomplish this by:

  • Prioritizing animal health and wellness over all else.
  • Remaining committed to the design of natural habitat exhibits.
  • Participating in international cooperative conservation research & captive breeding programs.
  • Building and maintaining a world-class, state-of-the-art facility.
  • Implementing educational programs to deliver our message to the community.
  • Maintaining fiscal responsibility and being a good corporate citizen.

The Georgia
Zoological Society

Building on our four foundational pillars of education, conservation, collaboration and leadership, the Georgia Zoological Society takes on this challenge with a mission to inspire in others a greater understanding of, appreciation for and connection to the natural world.

Established as a nonprofit, 501 (c)(3) organization in 2016, the Georgia Zoological Society seeks to contribute to worldwide conservation efforts, with a special focus on the state of Georgia which is home to 63 species of plants and animals on the Federal Endangered and Threatened Species List.

The Society, a non-profit entity led by an independent Board of Directors, will focus on creating meaningful animal engagements, ensuring best practices in animal care and habitat design, and delivering messages of hope through behavior-changing conservation stories. The Society will also be responsible for conservation fundraising and supporting animal care and propagation programs in strict adherence to AZA standards.

A Partnership for the Future

In partnership with the Georgia Safari Conservation Park, the Georgia Zoological Society is perfectly positioned to augment the Park’s unique safari experience with critical field conservation support and exciting educational opportunities.

This includes:

  • Fostering appreciation and understanding of the delicate balance between people and the natural world by educating park visitors on global conservation efforts and issues closer to home.
  • Growing and nurturing the next generation of conservationists and scientists, while actively saving species in the wild.
  • Inspiring action in personal and community efforts to support conservation through on-site programming and in local classrooms.
  • Promoting and advocating for policies and practices that create a better world for people and animals.

Results:

By partnering with the Georgia Safari Conservation Park, the Georgia Zoological Society will add to the appeal of the park’s exceptional experiences and garner financial support from a percentage of the park’s proceeds. In return, Georgia Zoological Society will enhance the park’s impact and advance its mission by vividly demonstrating the connection between the animals at the park and the ongoing conservation initiatives so desperately necessary for their continued survival in the wild.
